Introducing … Jane Pendered, Tour Manager
Please tell us a little bit about yourself
I have travelled to most of the world’s continents while working in the ski industry, and a keen adventurer who enjoys meeting people from all walks of life. As a triathlete who has represented Great Britain at the World Championships in Mexico and then Rotterdam, I love the outdoors and keeping active. Since joining the Different Travel team in 2016, I have led numerous trips with some favourites including the Indian Himalaya trek and hospice care project trip, the Great Wall of China trek and trekking the jungles of Borneo.
How long have you been with Different Travel? How did you get involved?
About 9 years following my random meet-up with a school friend who was already working with Different Travel and said “You’d love it”, and I do….
What was your first Different Travel trip? What made it special?
India, I was over the moon. It was with a lovely hospice group and we did a very special project at a children’s cancer hospice in Delhi, a Himalayan trek and obviously saw the incredible Taj Mahal
What has been your most memorable Different Travel adventure to date?
That’s a very difficult question, they are all memorable. From Hadrian’s wall to Borneo, there is always something special with all the trips and people one meets.
If you could go on an adventure with three people (past or present, real or fictional) who would they be and why?
I’m constantly drawn towards Bear Grylls, Ray Mears, Ralph Fiennes and people like that, who love adventure and living in the wilds, surviving in nature. Hence my new van life, although I still have comfort in my van!!!
What is your ultimate dream destination?
Sri Lanka and more of India
Which Different Travel adventure appeals to you, and why?
Cuba. There’s so much interesting history and parts of the country are still very old fashioned
What do you love about working with Different Travel
There is a very positive vibe among all those who work for Different Travel, and there are fun and serious moments on every trip.
